Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Bihar Chief Minister for a Record 10th Time

Nitish Kumar took oath once again as the Chief Minister of Bihar, marking a remarkable 10th term in office. The ceremony, held at Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan, underscored his enduring presence in the state’s political landscape and the stability of the NDA coalition backing him.

The event drew the presence of some of the country’s most prominent leaders, reflecting the political weight of the moment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J.P. Nadda attended the ceremony, lending the occasion a strong national spotlight. Joining them were key Chief Ministers from across India: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, all of whom witnessed Nitish Kumar’s formal return to the state’s top executive post.

Alongside the Chief Minister, a 26-member council of ministers was also sworn in. The composition of the cabinet included representation across communities, featuring one Muslim minister and three women ministers, highlighting an effort toward balanced inclusion within the government.

The ceremony itself unfolded with a sense of continuity and familiarity, reflecting Nitish Kumar’s long-standing influence in shaping Bihar’s political direction. With each term, he has maintained a central role in the state’s governance, navigating shifting alliances and political changes while retaining significant public and political support.

By taking oath for a record 10th time, Nitish Kumar reinforced his position as one of Bihar’s longest-serving and most adaptable leaders. The newly formed government now moves forward under the NDA banner, beginning another chapter in the state’s administrative journey under his leadership.
